Victoria’s renewable energy future depends on transmission infrastructure capable of moving large-scale renewable generation from where it is produced to where it is needed.
The Western Renewables Link is designed to connect Bulgana in western Victoria to the Sydenham Terminal Station in Melbourne’s north-west through approximately 190 kilometres of new 500kV double-circuit transmission line.
Once complete, the project is expected to unlock more than 3,000MW of renewable generation capacity and help power up to one million Victorian homes.
Genus, as part of the ACCIONA / Genus Joint Venture, was awarded the construction contract by AusNet to deliver the Western Renewables Link.
The construction contract is valued at approximately AUD $1.6 billion and remains subject to conditions precedent and required state and federal approvals.
Genus and ACCIONA will be responsible for all project construction activities.
