Reeves Plains is a nationally significant battery project designed to strengthen South Australia's grid and support the transition to renewable energy.
With complex grid connection requirements and strict performance expectations, early decisions would heavily influence delivery outcomes, cost and risk.
Alinta Energy needed a partner capable of contributing more than construction expertise.
Genus was engaged early through an Early Contractor Involvement phase, embedding delivery expertise into the project before construction began.
Working collaboratively with Alinta Energy, the team optimised the design, improved constructability and identified practical efficiencies across the site.
This approach helped simplify delivery and contributed to an estimated eight per cent saving in overall project costs.

Genus is delivering the project as EPC contractor, spanning design, procurement, construction and commissioning.
The scope includes:
Integrated teams continue to work closely with Alinta Energy to maintain alignment and accelerate decision-making.
By bringing construction thinking into the design phase early, Reeves Plains established a stronger foundation for delivery and reduced project risk before construction commenced.
The project demonstrates how collaboration and integrated delivery models can create better outcomes for complex infrastructure projects.
