Developed by Bright Energy Investments, the Warradarge Wind Farm project involved construction of 51 wind turbines, each up to 152 metres high, located approximately 15 kilometres north-east of Warradarge within the Shires of Coorow and Carnamah.
To connect the renewable energy generated by the wind farm into the Western Australian electricity network, new transmission infrastructure was required to link the project to the State grid.
The transmission infrastructure also needed to respond to environmental considerations and minimise impacts across agricultural land within the transmission corridor.
Genus was awarded the design and construction of approximately 10.5 kilometres of 330kV transmission line connecting the Warradarge Wind Farm to the Western Power network.
The project leveraged Genus’ capabilities across design, construction, testing and commissioning to deliver the connection infrastructure supporting renewable generation.
A key design consideration was minimising environmental and land-use impacts across the transmission corridor.

Genus delivered the transmission infrastructure connecting the wind farm into the Western Power grid.
The scope includes:
The works supported integration of renewable energy generation into the State network.
Leveraging Genus’ transmission experience, the line was designed to align with the project’s environmental objectives.
The use of poles rather than towers significantly reduced the impact on the cadastral area, helping minimise disruption across the transmission corridor.
This approach not only reduced environmental impacts but also supported local farming operations across cropping land traversed by the transmission line.
