Western Power is responsible for building, maintaining and operating the South West Interconnected System (SWIS), Western Australia’s primary electricity network servicing the majority of the State’s population.
The SWIS extends across a vast geographical area, stretching from Kalbarri in the north, Kalgoorlie in the east, and Albany in the south, incorporating both transmission and distribution networks and supplying more than 2.3 million customers.
Maintaining the safety, reliability and performance of this network requires ongoing investment in asset maintenance, infrastructure renewal and upgrade programs
Genus was awarded a five-year agreement to provide distribution and transmission overhead maintenance services across Western Power’s network.
The agreement is expected to generate approximately $50 million revenue in its first year.
The project leverages Genus’ capability across transmission, distribution and overhead line maintenance, supporting long-term network reliability and infrastructure performance across Western Australia.
The first year of the program includes maintenance, replacement and upgrade works across the SWIS transmission and distribution network.
The scope includes:
The maintenance program is being delivered across the full SWIS network footprint, servicing transmission and distribution infrastructure throughout Western Australia
Project ongoing.
The program supports the continued maintenance and upgrade of Western Australia’s largest electricity network, helping maintain network reliability and performance across infrastructure servicing more than 2.3 million customers.
